Percentage of registered voters still escalating |

Close to 97 percent of electorates in North Shoa Zone of the Oromia State have registered and received voters’ ID cards to cast votes in the upcoming national elections, the zonal election coordinating office disclosed. Office head, Ababu Zewdie disclosed that more than 578,000 voters were registered at 970 polling stations established across the zone during the last 26 days.
Similarly, more than 93 percent of electorates living in East Wollega Zone of the Oromia State have already registered to cast votes in the upcoming elections, the zonal election coordinating office said. Office head, Abera Deressa announced that more than 451,000 electorates received voters ID cards at 797 polling stations of the zone. Some 216,652 of the registered voters are women.
Bale Zone Election Coordinating Office of the South Ethiopia Peoples’ State also said more than 93 percent of the electorates in the zone have already registered to cast votes during national elections. Deputy coordinator, Girma Assefa disclosed that more than 500,000 eligible voters received voters’ ID cards at 723 polling stations established under seven constituencies until late Wednesday. According to the coordinator, more than 245,250 of the registered voters are women.
