The National Electoral Board facilitated Training on the Electoral Boundary Delimitation for five days in Adama town from Dec. 13-17/2010. The Board Chairman Professor Merga Bekana said that, the training was given in two levels. The first two days targeted on policy making and the last three days on the technical aspects. Professor Merga expressed that all the participants dealt with issues of key understanding in Boundary Delimitation,
Electoral System and their impacts on delimitation, principles of delimitation, structure of the boundary delimitation body, legislation on boundary delimitation criteria, steps in boundary delimitation, budgeting boundary delimitation, boundary delimitation strategic and operational planning. Professor Merga added that all participants obtained a basic knowledge on the Electoral Boundary Determination. The Board expects to transfer the skill and knowledge that acquired during the training to those who will involve in the actual process of the Delimitation. The Training were held in Collaboration with the International Public Administration and was financially supported by Democratic Institution Program (DIP). |
