Ethiopian 4th General election will be held tomorrow starting at 6:00 AM. Preparations have been successfully completed. All materials required for balloting have been successfully distributed to each polling station. All stake holders have been equipped with the necessary skill to promptly discharge their planned duties. Since tomorrow is a polling day; no one is allowed to come in to the polling station wearing signs of any political parties. Similarly, any weapon and election document that might heart election process is strictly forbidden and any campaigning activity is strictly forbidden anyone who moves against this will be held accountable.

87 percent of eligible voters in E. Gojjam receive Voters' ID Cards

Some 87 percent of eligible electorates in East Gojjam Zone of the Amhara State have registered to cast votes in the coming national elections, the zonal election coordinating office said. Office coordinator, Zemed Zewdu disclosed that close to 870,000 of the expected 1.03 million eligible voters in the zone have so far received Voters’ ID Cards at 1,411 polling stations. More than 431,000 of the registered voters are reported to be women.

Meanwhile, he said, six contesting political parties operating in the zone fielded 164 candidates to run for the seats of the federal and regional councils.
 
Close to 90 percent of voters in Gurage Zone, Yem Special Woreda receive Voters' ID Cards

Close to 90 percent of the electorates living in Gurage Zone and Yem Special Woreda of the Southern Ethiopia Peoples’ State have registered to cast votes in the coming national elections, the zonal election coordinating office said. Office coordinator, Fekade Menjeta disclosed on Monday that 504,000 of close to 560,000 eligible electorates received Voters’ ID Cards at 836 polling stations established in the zone and the special woreda of the state. Some 247,168 of the registered voters are women.

Meanwhile, he said, five contesting political parties operating in the zone and the woreda fielded 94 candidates running for the seats of federal and regional councils. He said the contesting political parties fielded their respective candidates in 13 constituencies of the zone including in the Yem Special Woreda. Some 31 of the competing candidates are running for seats of the federal council while the remaining are contesting for seats in the regional council.
